Gluten-free food at 10 European airports: what each says
Europe Β· gluten-free at the airport

6 of 10 big European airports say on their own websites that they offer gluten-free food: Amsterdam Schiphol, Manchester, Munich, Vienna, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Rome Fiumicino. Frankfurt, Berlin, Milan Malpensa and London Heathrow publish no general gluten-free line. Most airports let you take food you need for a special diet through security. Updated October 2026.
What should I do before an airport day?
Coeliac UK’s advice for eating out works at the airport too: explain that gluten-free is a health necessity and not a dietary choice, and check that the fryer and utensils used for gluten-free food are kept for it. Confirm your order before you eat, and if you’re still in doubt, don’t eat it.
Pack a sealed, labelled gluten-free snack. Solid food is allowed through security, and most airports on this page exempt liquids you need for a special diet; liquid limits differ by terminal, so check your airport’s own page.
No airport here publishes a dietary contact. Assistance is booked through your airline, usually 48 hours ahead.

Questions
Which European airports offer gluten-free food?
On their own websites: Amsterdam Schiphol (a dedicated gluten-free page), Manchester and Vienna (a gluten-free filter in their restaurant directories), Munich (gluten-free dishes on 32 outlet pages), and Paris Charles de Gaulle and Rome Fiumicino (general gluten-free lines). Frankfurt, Berlin, Milan Malpensa and London Heathrow publish no general line.
Can I take gluten-free food through airport security?
Solid food is allowed at the airports on this page. Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Manchester, Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino also exempt liquids or food you need for a special diet; Schiphol allows medication, dietary supplements and baby food. Liquid limits differ by terminal, so check your airport’s page.
Is airport food safe for coeliacs?
We can’t say that about any airport outlet. Manchester says itself that trace amounts of allergens may be present, and Vienna doesn’t explain its gluten-free tag. Tell staff you have coeliac disease, ask how the food is prepared, and carry a sealed snack.
Who do I contact about food at the airport?
None of these airports publishes a dietary contact. Book assistance through your airline, usually 48 hours ahead; each card lists the airport’s own contact.
