Is jasmine rice gluten-free? Yes, check what’s cooked with it
Yes. Plain jasmine rice is gluten-free, like all rice.
What to check
- Fried rice is usually made with soy sauce, which contains wheat unless the bottle is labelled gluten-free (some tamari contains wheat too).
- Rice cooked in stock or with seasoning cubes can pick up wheat.
- Flavoured and microwave rice packs: read the ingredients.
- “Sticky” or glutinous rice is also gluten-free. The name refers to its texture, not to gluten.
