Gluten-Free Croatia
Croatia's coast is grilled fish, seafood risotto, salads and olive oil, which gives a coeliac a good start, but the fully gluten-free places are few and some coastal kitchens close in winter. This first version lists gluten-free shops and kitchens in Zagreb, Rijeka and Split, plus restaurants in Split, Dubrovnik and Hvar that mark gluten-free dishes on their own menus. We read each venue's own website or page on 28 September 2026.

Words that help: bez glutena (gluten-free) and Imam celijakiju (I have coeliac disease). Burek and štrukli are made from wheat dough, and small fried fish (girice) and fried squid are usually dusted with flour and share the oil: ask before you order them. As across the EU, “bez glutena” on a label means 20 mg/kg or less.

Zagreb
GlutenBio
The venue’s own website: all products are certified gluten-free, with no possibility of contamination. Pasta, flours, bakery goods and sauces. Monday to Friday 9:00 to 19:00.
Its webshop says online orders are currently paused and its newest dated post is from 2022: call before you go.
InTolerant Gluten free Hižica

Rijeka
Rica Gluten Free
In its own words, the first gluten-free shop in Croatia: bread, flours, doughs and pizza, made and sold at Verdijeva 3b. Monday to Friday 7:30 to 20:00, Saturday 8:00 to 15:00, closed Sundays and holidays.
Split
SALT Gluten-Free House
Its own page presents it as a gluten-free house; the owner’s own description calls it a grill and sandwich place that is 100% without gluten, with a menu completely free from gluten. Pizza, grill, sandwiches and sweets.
It has no website; check its page for current opening hours.
Da’Mar (Marvie Hotel & Health)
The venue’s own website describes a gluten-free concept led by a chef who has coeliac disease, with gluten-free dishes and options. Breakfast 6:30 to 10:30, lunch 12:00 to 15:00, dinner 18:00 to 22:00.
Its regular menu also lists dishes with wheat pasta and biscuits: ask which dishes are gluten-free and how they are kept apart.
Fig
The venue’s own menu marks dishes as gluten-free (GF) or gluten-free on request (GFO). Breakfast until 12:00, then lunch and dinner.
A mixed kitchen: say it’s coeliac disease and ask about the fryer and shared surfaces.
Dubrovnik
Pizzeria Mamma Mia
The venue’s own website has a separate gluten-free menu (2026).
A mixed pizzeria: ask how the gluten-free pizza is kept away from the flour, the oven floor and the peel.
Urban & Veggie
The venue’s own menu marks gluten-free dishes. Monday to Saturday 8:00 to 23:00.
Its own menu says dishes may contain traces of gluten: tell the staff it’s coeliac disease.
Hvar
Fig Hvar
The venue’s own menu marks gluten-free (GF) dishes. Breakfast 9:00 to 12:00, lunch and dinner 12:00 to 22:00.
A mixed kitchen: ask about the fryer, and check it’s open outside the summer season.
Before you go
Kitchens change: menus, owners, fryers, staff. Evidence dates tell you when we last saw proof, not what is true today. Always confirm directly with the venue at the time of your visit, say explicitly that it’s coeliac disease, and trust your own questions over any listing, including ours.
