AI Transparency

UPDATED=2026-07-22APPLIES=howtoglutenfree.com Β· HTGF ATLAS

At How to Gluten Free, we use artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to help more people with coeliac disease and gluten intolerance faster and in several languages. We want to be open about it. This page explains where and how we use AI, in line with the transparency obligations under Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), which apply from 2 August 2026.

Editorial content (text)

Our guides, blog articles, FAQs and recipes are partly AI-assisted. Every piece is reviewed and approved by our editorial team; responsibility for the content always rests with us (see Imprint). We check safety-relevant information on coeliac disease and gluten-free eating with particular care.

Images and graphics

Some of the images on this website and in our social media were created or edited with the help of AI. Where required, we label photorealistic, AI-generated visuals with a corresponding note, for example: “This image was created with the help of artificial intelligence.” Purely schematic illustrations, symbols and obviously artificial graphics are exempt.

Interactive tools (AI interaction)

Some features are based on AI and interact directly with you:

  • Translation and dialogue helper for restaurant visits – helps you explain your needs to service staff.
  • Atlas submission assistant – helps you add gluten-friendly places to our database.

When you use these features, you are communicating with an AI system, not a human. Results can contain mistakes – always confirm anything safety-critical (for example ingredients, cross-contact or the gluten-free status of a dish) directly with the venue or on the product label. We never present an AI answer as a guarantee that something is free from gluten.

Recalls and safety notices

Our product-recall and warnings section prepares publicly available safety notices with AI assistance. Here too: human review before publication.

No high-risk AI

We do not use AI systems classified as “high-risk” under the AI Act, and no prohibited practices within the meaning of the AI Act.
