Babulla, an artisan bakery and café in Melegnano, south-east of Milan, describes itself as 100% gluten-free and lactose-free, with vegan options. It celebrates its first birthday on Saturday 24 October from 16:30 to 19:00 at Via Dezza 2: the owners Melania and Michael invite everyone to a free tasting of sweet and savoury bakes, with a toast. Local groups and meet-ups
Coeliac societies and local groups run regular Stammtische, coffee mornings, family picnics and online meetings, from Munich and Vienna to Leeds, Calgary and New York, plus a run of Christmas meet-ups in November and December.
