Are M&M’s gluten-free? It depends on the flavour
It depends on the flavour, and none is labelled gluten-free.
What the maker says
- US: Mars says every M&M’s contains milk and soy and, depending on the flavour, contains or may contain peanut, tree nuts and wheat.
- UK and EU: depending on the flavour, M&M’s contain or may contain barley and wheat (gluten).
- Flavours with pretzel or cookie pieces often contain wheat: read the ingredients. Plain milk chocolate and peanut are the simplest recipes, but check the pack.
“May contain” is a voluntary warning, not an ingredient: here’s how to read it.
